Predefined permissions, roles, users, and groups
Built-in permissions, roles, users, and groups are provided as part of the repository schema. These objects are created either directly by creating a repository database or are created automatically when other objects are created by using the repository.
With regard to BI Services, these built-in objects serve different objectives:
- Users can be assigned to built-in roles at repository creation time. Repositories are created by using the Farm Expert tool. While creating and/or registering a repository, the current user is assigned to these built-in roles, to grant him full administration permissions in the repository.
- Users can be assigned to built-in roles when importing applications. While creating a new application, built-in roles are created, to which the currently logged on repository user will be assigned. This way, the current user will have all permissions for the new application, to be able to add users to the application and fulfill other application administration tasks.
This section describes the changes of built-in permissions, roles, users, and groups that have been implemented to meet BI Services requirements.
