Database Connections

The Administration Console presents several possibilities to modify the properties of registered databases. The following shortcut menu commands are available (alternatively you can use the corresponding buttons on the toolbar):

Edit Database Registration... Click this command to open the Edit Database Registration dialog box where you can change the alias or log on to the database by another user name.
Delete Database Registration This command disconnects the database and removes it from the list.
Apply Runtime Settings Click this command, to apply changed database settings at server runtime. The parameters are marked by '*' asterisk in the Database Settings, the Scheduler Settings and the Log Settings. For a detailed list of all parameters refer to the Administrator Manual (in addition to the settings available in the Administration Console there are a couple of settings that can be edited directly in the ALEA.INI and DB.INI).
Disconnect Database Use this command to disconnect a database.
Stop Database Choose this command to stop the database.
Back up Database This command allows you to copy the database data to disc or to another directory. To configure the mode of the database backup, for example set a scheduled backup, go to the Scheduler Settings.
Save Server
Change Password... Use this command to change your password.
Restrict Access to Database... Click this command to reserve access to the server for at most three users. Enter the user name in the Restrict Database Access dialog box.
OLAP Permission Management Binding... In this dialog you specify the connection mode of the Infor BI OLAP Server database to the Repository. When you select the option Changeable, the user of the Infor BI OLAP Server database can use it along with another Repository. That is the default option. To prevent the Infor BI OLAP Server database from being used in conjunction with another Repository, select the Strong option.
Status of the Event Agent... Use this command to control the Event Agent. More details about the Event Agent Status.
Edit Event Filters... Use this command to open the Edit Event Filter dialog box where you can create and define event filters and event filter cubes (see Editing Event Filters).
Update Roles List on the Server Updates the group dimension (#_GRP_) on a server without re-starting the server.

Click this command to view the Properties dialog box that provides the following information:

The Information tab displays general information like user name, data directory and memory.

The Administration tab offers three options for dimensions and cubes:

  • Update: Usually OLAP Server reads the list of the currently available cubes and dimensions from disk into the memory only on startup. Clicking this button the OLAP Server reads this list again.
  • Save: Saves all cubes and dimensions to disk.
  • Unload: All cubes and dimensions are removed from memory. They are saved to disk beforehand.

The Extended tab provides the possibility to enter and use additional information in XML format with regard to the database (in the Extended properties section) and with regard to the database connection (in the Extended connection properties section).
