Importing data from a text file to a cube with Quick Import

To import data from a text file to a cube:

  1. Click Cubes in the Database group on the ribbon.
  2. Select the cube into which to import the data.
  3. Click Import.
  4. Click Find at the right of the Source file field and browse to the source file.
  5. To keep a log of processing errors, select Log file.
  6. In the Delimiter section, select the delimitation method used in the source file.
    A sample of records from the source file is displayed in the Preview section of the Import Cube dialog. The column headings are the names of the dimensions into which the data will be imported. However, there is one column headed [values]. This contains the values to be imported.
    If any other columns are headed [values] see Mapping incorrectly mapped fields.
  7. To start the import, click OK.
    A progress bar is displayed. The progress bar and the number of processed data sets is updated every 1000 data sets.
  8. Open the target cube to check that the data has been imported to the cube.
  9. Save the cube.
