Registering a Designer database

When you start the program, the Connect to Infor BI Designer dialog opens. Here you administer database registrations and connect to a repository.

To register a Designer database:

Click Creates a Designer database registration.
Specify a name for the registration.
Click Wizard. The Data Link Properties dialog opens.
Select the OLE DB provider on the Provider tab and click Next.
Specify the server name where the database is located on the Connection tab.
Specify the information required to log on to the server.

Note: You must log on with a user who is the user management administrator and the repository administrator. Only those OLAP Server permission managements are displayed whose users have the OLAP Server administrator permission. To avoid problems when connecting to and working with the Designer repository database, we recommend that you map the log-on information for the SQL Server database that is used in the Designer repository connection string to the dbo user.
Select the initial catalog to use from the Select the database drop-down list.
Note:
- To convert a Microsoft Jet/Access database (DESIGNER.MDB) into a SQL database, you must register the SYSTEM.MDW file and the appropriate DESIGNER.MDB if it exists. See the system database on the All tab in the Data Link Properties dialog. Then use the Database Converter program.
- If SQL Native Client 10.0 is selected as the provider, the Allow saving password option on the Connection tab does not work correctly. If you use SQL Native Client 10.0 without integrated security, specify the password in the Connection String field of the Register Database dialog. Specify the password as password=[sa password]. Use semi-colons (;) to separate attributes in the connection string.
To edit a registration, select the registration from the drop-down list and click Edits the Designer database registration.
To delete a registration, select the registration from the drop-down list and click Deletes the Designer database registration.
