Configuring permissions and report catalog settings

Which buttons and options you see depends on the permissions assigned to you and on the settings of the report catalog. Application Studio WebServices has these options and buttons:
Report Tree
The Report Tree is displayed at the left of the main report window. It displays the reports within the report catalog to which you are connected. If a start report has been specified on the server, it is displayed in the report window, and the folder in which it is located is expanded in the Report Tree. If no start report has been specified, the Report Tree displays the top-level Reports folder of the report catalog.
To open a report, click it in the Report Tree. The current report closes.
Back
If it is displayed, the Back button is enabled when you access Settings > Password ,Settings > Aliases or if a PDF report has been displayed. Click Back to return to the main report window.
Refresh
By default, reports refresh automatically when the data area changes (for example, when you make a selection from a combo box) or when you select a report in the Report Tree. By default, the Refresh button is not displayed. But if the settings of the report catalog specify that reports do not refresh automatically, the Refresh button is required.
Note: If the Refresh button is enabled, the data displayed does not match the view of the data which you have selected. Click Refresh to update the report.
If you expand or collapse a list of elements, there is no need to refresh the data and the Refresh button remains disabled.
Many reports contain actions which are triggered, for example, by clicking the area of the report on which the action is defined. The effects of some actions are visible. For example, an action can open a different report in a separate window or pop up a dialog. Other actions simply populate variables. Most actions cause the report to refresh.
Do not click the browser's Refresh button. It will log you off from Application Studio WebServices.
Write
The Write button is displayed by default. It is enabled when you enter a value in a cell which is configured to enable write back to the database (Writing back data).
Excel
You can open or save a report as a Microsoft Excel XML Spreadsheet. The Excel button is displayed by default (Exporting to Microsoft Excel).
PDF
You can open or save a report as a PDF. The PDF button is displayed by default.
See Converting to PDF.
Export Wizard
The Export Wizard enables you to export a report or report book to PDF. You can specify the page layout, margins and headers and footers to be applied to all the exported reports.
SeeUsing the Export Wizard.
Settings
The settings which you can view and administer if you have permission are: Manage Scheduled Tasks, Change Password, and Database Aliases.
SeeSettings.
Log off
The Log off link is displayed by default. Click it to log off and display the Log on dialog where you can select a different repository, report catalog or project to log on to.
