Hyperblocks 4, 5 and 6

Hyperblocks 4, 5 and 6 contain the same formula.

The formula uses the default elements of each dimension. That is:

  • CHANNEL: All Channels
  • MEASURE: Gross Margin
  • POS: All POS
  • PERIOD: All Years
  • REGION: All Regions
  • VALTYPE: Variance.

Hyperblocks 5 and 6 have filters to display only values less than zero. Both hyperblocks display the same data. But only the filter on Hyperblock 5 has the Data Area defined.

To see this:

  1. In Design Mode, click the border of Hyperblock 5.
    See that the Data Area at the bottom of the Filter pane is populated with the hierarchies of the Product dimension. For each, 'Current element' is selected.
  2. Click the border of Hyperblock 6.
    See that the Data Area displays only 'Select Hierarchy'. The Data Area is not defined.

    In this case, defining the Data Area was not necessary because both of these conditions were met:

    1. The formula refers only to the default elements of the dimension.
    2. The filter refers to the same range of data as the formula. That is: same years, same regions etc.
