Setting up Promotions
Promotions are used to generate interest in a particular line or product. For example, Buy one get one free or Buy two of item A get item B free.
You must have defined your Price Book structure before you can set up promotional items.
- From the Action menu within Price Book Lines Setup select Promotional Item.

Specify this information:
- Price Book Code and Price Book Line Identifier
- These fields are automatically populated from the current Price Book record.
- Promotional Item Code
- The code for the promotional item.
- Value Label
- The Value Label to be applied to the price, as defined in Value Labels (VLB).
- Price Value Type

Depending on the Value Label selected, this field may automatically be completed, or you may have to select the type of the value label. Options are:
- Without Units - a number without a Unit of Measure attached to it. For example, a percentage.
- With Units - a number with a Unit of Measure attached to it. For example, a quantity.
- Corresponds to Base Currency - a number that is the base currency.
- Corresponds to Transaction Currency - a number that is the transaction currency.
- Corresponds to Reporting or 2nd Base Currency - a number that is the reporting or 2nd base currency.
- Price Formula
- Formula to be used in the promotional price calculation.
- Calculation Type

The type of calculation to be carried out. Options are:
- Value to be used.
- Amount by which the value is to be changed.
- Ratio by which the value is to be changed.
- Percentage by which the value is to be changed.
- Operator
- The operator to be used in the calculation. Options are: '+' plus or '-' minus.
- Value

The value to be used in the calculation.
For example, the Calculation Type may be set to Amount by which the value is to be changed, the Operator set to '+' plus and the Value set to 150.
- Quantity
- The quantity of stock to be used in the promotion.
- Unit of Quantity
- The unit of measure for the promotional item.
- Save your changes.
