What are Units of Measure?
Units of Measure are units that are applied to items in order to quantify them. Units of Measure Labels describe these units. For example, bottles, cans, crates or pallets.
Once the units of measure have been defined they are applied to specific items in the Item Master. For example, an item may be called lemonade and its unit of measure may be bottle.
Other examples of units of measure are:
- Specific units - each, box, crate, pallet.
- Length - centimetre, metre, foot, inch.
- Area - square metre, square foot.
- Weight - grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds.
- Time - hour, day, week, month.
You can also set up conversion rules which can be applied to units of measure as required. For example, lemonade might be bought in cases but sold in bottles and the conversion would specify that 1 case = 12 bottles.
