Defining a Product Group
A Product Group is used to group items together for processing or reporting purposes. Groups contain properties or styles that are common to the items in that group. Some examples are:
- Mechanical items
- Electrical items
- Training services
- Consultancy services
- Charge items
- Stationery items.
Product Groups are also used for Units of Conversion. Unit conversion may be different for different product groups. For example, in the Product Group Mechanical ten items can be fitted into a box, but for the Product Group Electrical fifteen items can be fitted into a box. If conversions at product group level are not appropriate, then you may need to use them at item level or at a global level with standard units.
The stages in defining a Product Group are:
- Setting up the Product Group
- Setting up Product Group Labels
- Assigning Conversions to Product Groups
- Printing a Product Groups Listing.
