Setting up the Pages of the Book

After you have set up the Price or Value Book you can define the pages of the book.

  1. Select Purchase Price Book Pages (PPP), Sales Price Book Pages (SPG) or Value Book Pages (VBP). This displays the Book Pages Setup form.
  2. Specify this information:
    Book Definition Code
The identifying code for the book for the pages to be defined.
  3. The following fields are automatically populated after the Book Definition Code has been entered:
    Status
    The status.
    Analysis Directory
    The analysis directory.
    Analysis Dimension
    The analysis dimension.
    Analysis Hierarchy Label
    The analysis hierarchy label.
  4. Specify this information:
    Analysis/Hierarchy Code
    The analysis or hierarchy code.
    Start Date
The date from which the book can be used, including this date. The date set on the Pricing Date Source field on the purchase type is used to determine which price book is applied.
    End Date
The date up to which the book can be used, including this date. The date set on the Pricing Date Source field on the purchase type is used to determine which price book is applied.
    Currency Code
The currency to be used for calculations if your system is serialized for Multi-Currency functionality. Prices are returned from the price book in this currency.
    Accumulation Start and End Dates
If the type of book has been specified as Cumulative enter the dates when the accumulation is to start and end.
    Multiples Only
This applies only to Promotional Price Books and indicates if multiple promotions will be applied. For example, buy ten of A and get one of B free, buy twenty of A and get two of B free and so on.
  5. The following fields determine what the price book calculation is applied to. The calculation information is defined in the Price Books Line Setup which is detailed below.
    Value Label
The price which the price book calculation is applied to. For example, if the calculation is minus 10% and selling price is selected as the base value, the result is the selling price minus 10%. The value label needs to have been set up so that it contains the selling price at the time of this price book calculation.
    Value Label Value Type

Select the type of value for this value label from the drop-down list. The choice should be appropriate to the selected value label. That is, if the selected value label contains a monetary value, then select a currency type. The non-monetary options are more appropriate to value books. The options are:

    • Without Units - a number without a unit of measure attached to it. For example, a percentage.
    • With Units - a number with a unit of measure attached to it. For example, a quantity.
    • Currency - a number that is a currency. This is used when the value refers to a base transaction value or reporting value.
    Formula
You can use a formula from the formula map in your price book as an alternative to the value label. For example, you can use a selling price set up in the item master.
    Range Values

The range part is used to determine which price book line, if any, to use. The line values, or ranges, may be 0-10, 11-20, 21-30 and so on. To work out which line to use, a range value is determined here and the quantity value label is the most likely choice. Whichever value label or formula map element is selected as the range value, its actual value is determined and converted if necessary to the same units or currency of the price book line values, so that the correct line can be selected.

    Value Label
This determines a value with which to select a line.

    Unit Label Code
This is only required for value books and contains the units for the result to be produced in. Price books always return a price, but value books can return a unitary value, factor or percentage value, such as tax rates. If the price book lines range values are unitary, these are the units in which they are held.
    Formula

You can use a formula from the formula map in your price book as an alternative to the value label.

Uwaga: If the price book contains one line to cover all values, then the range value selection is optional.
