For a relative apportionment, the proportion or percentage to be allocated varies according to a target analysis code. For example, a different percentage might be required for each department, cost centre, or product. In this situation, the target analysis code must be held in a particular analysis dimension on the ledger transactions.

Using an example of apportioning a phone bill, a phone bill memo account contains transactions that indicate the ratio or percentage to be applied to each department. When the percentage is posted to the memo account, one of the ledger transaction analysis dimensions must identify the department code to which this percentage applies. The filter properties identify this ledger analysis dimension. See Allocating Across Multiple Departments.

  1. Specify this information:
    Ratio Analysis Dimension 1-3

You can identify up to three ledger analysis dimensions, or the currency code, to be used to determine the ratio calculation. For example, in the phone example described above, you would select the analysis dimension that contains the department code.

    Ratio Analysis Code From/To 1-3

For each selection analysis dimension, you can select a range of analysis codes to be used to select the transactions retrieved from the ratio accounts. For example, in the phone example you would identify the code that identified the particular department for which the ratio was to be used.
