Invoking forms from outside the application

Note:  Form Load Caching is available in the Windows client only.

You can provide direct access to forms and frequently used functions in SunSystems by creating a modified desktop shortcut, or by invoking the Windows command prompt.

Note:  This feature is accessible via terminal services or Citrix presentation server and requires the published application properties to be amended accordingly.
Note:  Previous versions of SunSystems allowed other parameters to be specified, such as Business Unit, Budget Code, and Form Name. These can no longer be specified on the command line or within a desktop shortcut, but can be added to a function by creating a function extension within Security Console or User Manager. After creating and extending the new function, it can be invoked from the command line or a desktop shortcut. This change has been made as a security enhancement, so only permitted users can create and extend functions.

Invoking the Windows Command Prompt

Open the Windows Command Prompt. Go to the Start menu and type cmd in Search programs and files.

At the prompt, specify "<SunSystems installation path>\<SunSystems application executable>.exe" /Code DDD

where DDD is the function shortcut. For example, ADD is the shortcut for the Addresses function.

Note: The argument /Code is case sensitive and must be typed exactly as it is specified here.

Creating a desktop shortcut to directly open a form or function

You can create a shortcut to open the form you require from your desktop:

  1. Copy the SunSystems shortcut on your desktop. You must keep the original shortcut to retain access to SunSystems.
  2. Right-click one of your SunSystems shortcuts and select properties. A Windows Properties dialog opens.
  3. Specify the Target field by appending the extra parameters required for a form to open directly when you start SunSystems. Specify:

    "<SunSystems installation path>\<SunSystems application executable>.exe" /Code DDD

    where DDD is the function shortcut. For example, ADD is the shortcut for the Addresses function.

    For example, specify the Addresses form to open:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Infor\SunSystems\SunSystems.exe" /Code ADD

  4. Click Change Icon to update the icon. Click the browse button to select an alternative from the icons listed.
  5. Click OK to save your changes.
  6. Clear your operator in Security Console or User Manager before logging back into SunSystems. Operator login details are retained after accessing a form directly and must be cleared before using SunSystems.
Note: After clicking the shortcut, if you are not using Windows Authentication, you will be prompted for your details.
