About sales kits
Sales kits are a type of bill of materials which is a set of items sold as a kit.
A sales kit item can be any item type. That is, goods, service, charge, or non-inventory. However, you should consider the following points when creating a sales kit bill of materials:
- If the parent item in the Item Master has the item type of goods, the sales kit lines (that is, the bill of materials components) should not be goods items.
- If the parent item in the Item Master has a non-goods item type, the sales kit lines (that
is, the bill of materials components) can be goods items.
Note: If the above rules are not followed, double counting of goods in the inventory are recorded.
- Entering the parent item code generates sales order lines for all of the components multi-level kits and phantoms.
- Once the order lines are generated they are processed like any other order lines, but with the option of whole kitting.
