Setting Up Incremental Extracts from Marketo

Incremental extracts will only pick up the data that has changed since the last extraction as opposed to extracting all the data each time.

You can perform incremental extracts from Marketo objects when using the SOAP API. Incremental extracts are not supported for the REST API.

If you would like to use specific selection criteria for incremental extracts, such as a specific date or a Birst variable, use the Add Object feature to set up incremental extracts as described in Adding a Source Based on a Marketo Object.

To set up incremental extracts from Marketo

1. Go to Admin - Define Sources - Manage Sources.
2. Select the Marketo source in the data sources panel.
3. Click the Properties tab.
4. Check Rows in Data Source are Transactions.

If a grain has been defined for this source, this setting will treat rows as transactions, meaning that Infor will not apply a Load_ID prefix when a measure from this grain is selected. See Setting Transaction and Snapshot Policies for a Data Source.

5.  Click Save.

After changing this setting, the next time you perform a Marketo extraction, a full extraction will be performed. After that, all future extracts will be incremental, meaning only the data that has changed since the previous extract will be extracted.
