General

On the General tab, you specify the language of the Application Studio WebServices user interface, the session time-out, and the report caching:

  • Language of the user interface: Select the language of the user interface of Application Studio WebServices.
  • Session time-out (in minutes): Time in minutes, after that the connection to Application Studio WebServices is disconnected, if the logged user remains inactive. If you do not interact with Application Studio WebServices for 20 minutes, you will be logged off. If you then interact with Application Studio WebServices, the Logon page is displayed. The default twenty minute time-out can be changed, on the Application Studio WebServices server, by an administrator.
  • Report caching: A repository administrator can specify whether report definitions are loaded from the repository each time the reports are accessed, or whether the definitions are cached. If the definitions are cached, the latest version of the report is loaded only when you log on to Application Studio WebServices. The report is not updated again until you next log on. Caching optimizes performance.
    • Always load report definitions from repository: Report definitions are loaded from the repository each time the reports are accessed. This option is recommended for development environments.
    • Cache report definitions: Report definitions are cached and will only be updated when you log on again to Application Studio WebServices. This option is recommended for production environments.

For the settings of Application Studio WebServices to take effect, click the Restart IIS (Restart Internet Information Services Server) button.
