Creating a Dashboard Catalog

Note: To create a dashboard catalog, you require the Edit permission in the permission management of the superordinate project. The creator of a dashboard catalog receives the roles AdministratorRole, MasterRole and ViewRole.

To create a dashboard catalog:

  1. Right-click the Projects folder in the tree underneath the repository and select New Project from the shortcut menu.
  2. Specify the project name and a description and click OK. The new project is displayed underneath the Projects folder in the tree.
  3. Click the new project in the tree and select Create Dashboard Catalog from the shortcut menu. The Dashboard Catalog is displayed in the tree. Projects that have a dashboard catalog object can be selected when you log on to Infor BI Dashboards. When you click Dashboard Catalog, the view Dashboard Catalog Permission Management opens. When you expand Dashboard Catalog and select Settings, the global, role-specific, and user-specific settings of the Dashboards catalog are shown.
  4. To create a report catalog that you can use to define content connections in Infor BI Dashboards, right-click the Report Catalogs folder in the tree underneath the project for which you created the dashboard catalog and select New Report Catalog from the shortcut menu. Specify a name and a description. Select Application Studio from the drop-down list Type and click OK. The type Application Studio is required to enable the use of the report catalog in Infor BI Application Studio and for content connections in Infor BI Dashboards. The new report catalog is now available in the tree. Repeat these steps for each required report catalog.
  5. For the report catalogs that you create in Repository, check whether the required database aliases are correctly configured in Application Studio and the Application Studio reports that you use in Infor BI Dashboards are available. These are prerequisites to be able to use and display your specific content in Infor BI Dashboards. See the Application Studio online help on how to create database aliases and reports. When the database aliases are created, you can edit the connection settings of the aliases in the Database Aliases view in Repository. You can save different settings for individual users or roles.
  6. Configure the required content connections for the reports that you use in the Infor BI Dashboards application. See the Infor BI Dashboards online help on how to configure content connections.
