Importing attachments

You can use the export and import of attachments to move an application or OLAP model from one repository to another, or from one project to another, or to backup attachments.

Note: The import of attachments depends on the export mode that you selected for the export of attachments before. You can either import full attachments and actually store them in the target storage system or you can import only the attachments metadata and rely on the existence of those attachments in the storage systems available as storage aliases in the target project.

To import attachments in Repository:

  1. Select the Attachments node underneath a project.
  2. Click Import on the toolbar. The Import Attachments dialog opens, where you select an attachment file (file extension .attachments) that must be saved in the project.
  3. Click the button of the File to Import field and navigate to the attachment file. Select the file and click Open.
  4. In case that an attachment already exists, specify the import option:
Keep existing attachment and import under different name.
If you select this option, an existing attachment that is already stored in the repository database will be kept. The attachment of the selected file will be imported under a different unique name.
Override existing attachment with the one from import file.
If you select this option, an existing attachment that is already stored in the repository database will be overwritten with the attachment from the import file.
    Skip import of the attachment.
If you select this option, the import of the selected attachment is skipped.
  5. To start the import, click OK.

When you open the attachment, the selected zip file is checked whether it contains all required files. If not, an error is shown and the import is cancelled.

When the attachments have been successfully imported, a statistical overview shows the number of the added, replaced, renamed, and skipped attachments.

  6. Click Close. The imported attachments are displayed in a line of the attachments work space.
