Creating accelerators

Note:

When defining an accelerator in which one cube refers to another, you cannot use "!dimension" when the dimension contents are the same, but the names differ. The correct syntax for the destination cube in this case is "Dimension_name1!Dimension_name2".

To create an accelerator:

  1. Click Cubes in the Database group on the ribbon.
  2. Select the rule for which to create an accelerator.
  3. Click Edit Rules.
  4. Click New Accelerator.
  5. Specify the data in the Source and Target panes and click OK. .

    See Accelerators. Optimizing rule performance.

You can also use the Internal Reference and External Reference buttons to define the source and target.
    Note:

In the Source area of an accelerator you can also use subsets, but they must be public and static. Subsets must be enclosed in double braces: [Products:{{TotalServers}}].

In the Target section you cannot enter references to external cubes (the External Reference button is disabled for this area). For more information on external cubes refer to Writing Rules to External Cubes.

    SeeWriting rules to external cubes.

Subsets and the selection of several elements are not allowed as internal references in the Target area. The buttons Select Several Elements and Select Subset are disabled for the Target area.

  6. Click Use accelerators.
  7. Save the cube.
    Note:

Changes made to accelerators or new accelerators are only permanently saved to disk when you save the entire database or when you save the cubes in question in the Cubes and Data Areas dialog. You can experiment with changing cube rules and accelerators, without making the changes permanent.

See Saving cube rules to disk.
