Writing back with copy and paste from Microsoft Excel

You can write back by copying values from an Excel spreadsheet and pasting them into writable cells (for example, RWC) in View Mode.

There must be enough writable cells below, and to the right of the cell into which you paste. Do not select a range of cells to paste into - paste into a single cell.

If the writable cells into which you are pasting are separated by a column or row of protected cells, the writable cells are highlighted and you are asked to confirm the paste operation.

Example

Column A contains writable cells for Budget figures. Column C contains writable cells for Actual figures. They are separated by Column B which contains protected cells. If you try to paste two columns of figures into Column A, Columns A and C are highlighted and this message is displayed:

"Range nxn values will be pasted. Continue?"

’N’ represents the number of columns and rows of values (for example, 2 columns of three rows of values).

Values that result from formulas in Excel can be pasted, but not the formulas themselves. If you try to paste the text of a formula (e.g. =sum(A1+B1)) an error message is displayed.
