3D View dialog
The 3D View dialog is available for all three-dimensional charts and chart subtypes. Generally, 3D charts have greater visual impact than two-dimensional charts, but less precision. Adjustments to the default values of 3D charts tend to increase this discrepancy.
See Chart types.
To display the 3D View dialog:
- In Design Mode, double-click the chart. A hashed border is displayed.
- Right-click and select .
You can specify these parameters of a 3D chart:
- Elevation
- Elevation specifies whether the chart is viewed as if from above or from below. Either specify values in the Elevation field or click the Up and Down arrows. To view the chart as if from above, specify a value from 0 to 90. To view it as if from below, specify a value from 0 to -90. The default value is 15 degrees.
- Rotation
- You can rotate a chart through 360 degrees. Different degrees of rotation produce the effect that the X-axis of the chart is receding into the distance. The default value is 20 degrees. Either specify values in the Rotation field or click the left of right rotation arrows.
- Perspective
- The Perspective option adjusts the angles formed by the X and Y axes, and, for example, the angles of the columns in a column chart. This gives a greater illusion of depth. In, for example, a column chart viewed as if from above, the columns are represented as being wider at the top than at the bottom.
- Height
- This parameter specifies the height of the chart as a percentage of the width of the chart floor. By default, the Height parameter has a value of 100%. That is, the height of the chart equals the width. Increasing or decreasing the height has the effect of elongating or compressing the chart. In, for example, a column chart with predominantly high or low values, this can have the effect of exaggerating of emphasizing those values.
- Right angle axes
- By default, the angles between the X and Y axes and between the floors and walls of 3D charts are adjusted to enhance the three dimensional effect. But, if you select the option, the angles remain at 90 degrees, regardless of the rotation or elevation of the chart. The Perspective option is removed. The three-dimensional appearance of the chart is reduced.
- Auto-scaling
- If selected in addition to Right angle axes, this option overrides the Height parameter. The optimal scaling for the chart is used.
