Key output cell

You can move the key output within the hyperblock by entering a cell reference in the Position field.

You can drag the key output cell to a different position within a value cell that is expanded.

From the Value and Display Value lists you can select options for displaying elements. For example, unique name, caption, attributes or user-defined.

Note: The option selected can be overridden by the number format of the key output cell.

See Specifying number formats.

In earlier versions of the software, you could select a combination of output values (for example, unique name and caption, or caption and attribute) in the Value list and display both in one cell. This is no longer necessary. Instead, create separate key output cells for each output value.

The Special Format String option in the Value list enables backward compatibility. If you have hyperblocks with dual outputs in single cells, this option translates the outputs for display in the current version.

The Fill style list, by default, contains the standard style. But, if you have created a level-specific format for the key output cell, it is shown here. See Specifying level-specific formats of data in hyperblocks.

The key output cell may not be wide enough to display element names in full. The column width options specify how elements fit within the key output cell. They have the same options as value cells.

Special format string

You can use the Special Format String option to display these characteristics of elements:

  • Unique name
  • Caption
  • Attribute
  • Property

You can display a single characteristic or a combination of characteristics. If you display two or more characteristics, you can specify a separator. For example, specify U - C to display the unique name and caption of elements, separated by a hyphen or specify U + A to display the unique name and attribute of elements, separated by a plus sign.

Elements can have multiple attributes and properties. Specify, for example, A1+A2+A3 to display the first three attributes, or P1+P2+P3 to display the first three properties.

If no attributes have been defined, an empty string is returned. If no properties have been defined, the element caption is returned.

You can specify the special format string directly in the Special Format String dialog, or specify the string in a variable and select the variable in the Special Format String dialog box.
