Defining an activity task

Add tasks from either the Activities tree or the Activity InfoViewer. After defining a task, you can specify at which milestone the task is performed.

  1. Open the Activity Tasks dialog box.
To add a task from the Activities tree, click the Activity Tasks node for the selected activity, and then click Add.
To open the InfoViewer, right-click the activity's node in the tree and select Open Activity. Then select the Tasks tab and click Add.
  2. Specify this information:
    Task
Specify the name of the task.
Note: You can use the popup button for the Task field to copy an existing task from a different activity.
    Probability
Specify the estimated probability that a work order will use the task.
For example, if an activity has a task for traffic control, specify the percentage of work orders for this activity that would require traffic control. If greater than 50%, the task is automatically included when you create a work order. The percentage is used to calculate the estimated cost of the work order, and the estimated cost of the task is multiplied by the percentage.
    Due Within
Specify the number of days, hours, and minutes allowed before the task must be completed.
  3. Specify any other information about the task.
You can add standard resource rates and safety messages for the task. If the task will have the same cost regardless of the planned quantity of work for the work order, select the Fixed Cost check box.
  4. Click Save.
