Expand Dataset data
The Expand Dataset data feature allows you to extend or create the data from one Favorite View into another dataset based on the template of another Favorite View. This feature creates the necessary combination of keys, specifically the basic keys present in From View and Expanded View, which are added to the records of the To Dataset.
You can use this feature for:
- Expanding and distributing data to another Key dimension. You can select from Style to Style + Color or other Keys like Category to Category + sub category or Style + Color to Style + Color + Size. Key records in the To Dataset are created if missing.
- Main item to Main Item + components using a Favorite View (expansion view) that contains the Bill of Material or Component list and component quantity.
- Redistributing values with updated template. For example, one dataset has Style + Color. The From View is aggregated to Style and the Expansion View contains the template for distribution ratio.
Expand Dataset Data has arrows, and the colors of these arrows indicate messages that are typically shown in the status bar. The red arrow means there are no keys matched with the selected options that are required to be checked. The blue arrow means keys are matched, which you can use to expand data.
You can select from these actions to handle the values:
When selected, this action distributes the value of From View measures and placed the data on data type of To Dataset.
When selected, this action transfers the values of Expansion View measure and placed the data on the data type of To Dataset.
When selected, values in measure of From View are multiplied by values of Expansion View measure and placed on the data type of To Dataset.
When selected, values of From View measure are transferred and placed on the data type of To Dataset.
The Expand Dataset Manager automatically rounds off the values as they are placed on the To Dataset type, if and only if Integer is enabled.
You can expand a dataset data through:

- Workflows
