About Currency Conversions for Transfer Orders

This topic provides an overview of currency conversions for transfer orders.

The exchange rate for transfer orders is set on the Inter-Site Parameters form. For transfer orders, the system considers the To Site as the domestic currency site, and thus the exchange rate defaults to the To Site's current buy rate. If no buy rate has been established for the To Site, then the exchange rate defaults to 1.00.

If the From Site is the originating site in a transfer, then the From Site's currency is divided by the exchange rate to determine how the transfer cost is converted into the To Site's currency. For example, assume that the exchange rate, as entered on the Inter-Site Parameters form, is .80. If the From Site's currency is assumed to be 1.00, then the currency conversion for the To Site is as follows: 1.00/.80, or 1.25.

If the To Site is the originating site in a transfer, then the To Site's currency is multiplied by the exchange rate to determine how the transfer cost is converted into the From Site's currency. For example, assume that the exchange rate, as entered on the Inter-Site Parameters form, is .80. If the To Site's currency is assumed to be 1.00, then the currency conversion for the From Site is as follows: 1.00 * .80, or .80.
