Application Security Overview

Birst provides three main types of application security and user access features:

Report/Dashboard Security and Access via Folder Access Control Lists (ACLs) – ability to lock down who has access to which reports and dashboards via group access controls.

Data-Level Security via Data Security Filters – ability to restrict access to specific sets of data rows in the application based on a highly flexible and robust model for securing dimension and fact data.

Subject Area Access using Custom Subject Areas – ability to craft customized views of dimension columns and measures. This feature is particularly useful to make the application more accessible to business users as well as restricting access to certain data elements.
