Group Permissions

Access control lists (permissions or access rights) can be assigned to user groups. Each space can have groups that contain users and have access rights. Users can be members of multiple groups. The users in a group get the access rights assigned to the group. This can be assigned through Admin 2.0 or by Using the Command Window. When a user belongs to more than one account group, the permissions are inclusive.

Manage Group ACLs from Admin 2.0

  1. From Admin 2.0, select Account Groups.

  2. Select or create your group.
  3. Select your Permissions and Features. For an explanation of ACLs, see the Group Permissions section below.

Manage Group ACLs from Command Window

Use the ACL names in the table below for the ACL_tag in the addacltogroup and removeaclfromgroup commands in the Command Window to add ACLs to a group or remove ACLs from a group:

addacltogroup space_name group_name ACL_tag

removeaclfromgroup space_name group_name ACL_tag

Note: Not all permissions are available to add through the Command Window. All permissions are available through Admin 2.0.

The below table details the available permissions for Group ACLs.

Edit Report Catalog Allows users to access Report Catalog through Designer and Visualizer to rename files and folders, delete files and folders and create new folders. Users will need Edit permission for the folders they want to edit. For more information, see Managing Files in the Report Catalog. EditReportCatalog
Dashboard Visualizer Exploration Use the Explore in Visualizer dashlet option for end users of Dashboards 2.0. Applies to Visualizer reports only. ExploreInVisualizer
Enable Bookmarks Use bookmarks in Dashboards 2.0. EnableBookmarks
Enable Storytelling Allows Users in the Group to access storytelling on mobile devices. EnableStorytelling
Disable Filter Edit Access Enabling this permissions prevents a user from creating, modifying, or deleting filters. Users can still view and apply filters. This ACL does not affect Native Filters. Not available through the Command Window.
Disable "Copy Dashboard & Reports" Enabling this permissions prevents a user from using the "Copy Dashboard & Reports" option when copying a Dashboard. Not available through the Command Window.
Disable Space Groups

Enabling this permission prevents a user from creating Space Groups in any space.

Not available through the Command Window.
Create Enterprise Spaces Allows users to create an Enterprise space. Enterprise spaces enable complex, scalable data management with dimensional data models. Not available through the Command Window.
End User Data Blending Allows users to blend data from a master space, such as a governed enterprise data store, with local data (sandbox) they upload from their desktops. See End User Data Blending (Limited Availability) for more information. Not available through the Command Window.
Open Client Interface Enables users to use OCI to externally connect Birst to other clients, like Microsoft Excel and Tableau. See Open Client Interface for more information. Not available through the Command Window.
Create Professional Space Allows users to create a Professional space. Professional spaces enable streamlined data analysis with self-service data preparation. Not available through the Command Window.
Monitoring Enabling this permission allows non-admin users in the group to access Monitoring in Admin 2.0 for the specified space. Not available through the Command Window.
Create Tags Allows users to create new tags and delete existing tags in Report Catalog. Not available through the Command Window.
Edit Tags Allows users to add and remove tags from files and folders in Report Catalog. Not available through the Command Window.
Modify Data Buckets Allows user to add, edit, and delete data buckets in Visualizer. Not available through the Command Window.
