Restructuring the Product list with the List Designer

In this procedure, we will enhance the appearance of the list.

How a list should be displayed depends on the requirements of users. However, in the current example, the List Designer offers two main options. These are:

  • To expand the hierarchy and display the full list.
  • To display the list as a hierarchy and let users expand and collapse its layers.

To expand the hierarchy and display the full list:

  1. In Design Mode, click the border of the Product hyperblock to select it.
  2. Select the Advanced pane in the List Designer.
  3. In the Hierarchy section of the Advanced pane, Hierarchized has the value True. Select False from the drop-down list.
  4. Click the Apply changes to the list button.
  5. Click View Mode.
The hierarchy is now fully expanded to display all its elements, including consolidated elements (for example, All Tires, Car Tires Summer etc.)
  6. To display the list as a hierarchy again, return the value of Hierarchized to True.
  7. Click Functions in the Structure Selection pane and select Elements Underneath > All Base Elements.
Base elements are those elements of a list which have no children.
  8. In the Selection Settings pane, click All Tires.
  9. Click the Apply changes to the list button.
The report displays all, and only, base elements below the top level of the hierarchy.
  10. To display only consolidated elements in the report, open Structure Selection, click Elements underneath All Tires (base elements) and click Delete.
  11. In the Structure Selection pane, click Select Children.
  12. In Selection Settings, select All Tires.
  13. Click Apply changes to the list, and then click View Mode.
