Editing names and texts

In the Edit Names and Texts dialog you edit the texts that are used in reports, and provide translations of them in different languages. You can also edit the names of reports and folders.

In reports, you can include texts in the TRANSLATESTRING and functions. Then, by selecting a different report language, the strings are displayed in the selected language.

Specifying the language

Select Edit > Edit Names and Texts to open the Edit Names and Texts dialog. The Texts menu in the toolbar lists these categories of text:
Text element type Description
General String Shared text element that can be added to the table of text elements, deleted, or edited
Folder Name Folder name in Infor BI Application Studio
Report Name Report name in Infor BI Application Studio
POV Point of view name (POV) in Infor BI Application Studio
Visual Framework String Text element of Visual Framework
Book Name Book name in Infor BI Application Studio
Book Folder Name Book folder name in Infor BI Application Studio
Schedule Name Schedule name in Infor BI Application Studio
Object Description Description of an object in Infor BI Application Studio or Infor BI Dashboards
Dashboard Folder Name Name of a folder in Infor BI Dashboards
Dashboard Name Name of a dashboard in Infor BI Dashboards
Dashboard Theme Name Name of a theme in Infor BI Dashboards
Dashboard Widget Name Name of a widget in Infor BI Dashboards
Application Process Name Name of an application process
Content Connection Name Name of a content connection in Infor BI Dashboards

You can edit texts in all categories but you can only add or delete general strings.

To edit a text, double-click the cell containing it. Or, click the cell and press <F2>.

You can insert a translation into the language table for each text.

You can order any of the columns in ascending or descending order.

To select which columns to display, click Select Visible Columns in the toolbar.

Note: Strings can contain up to 255 characters.
