Line tab

The Line tab is a tab of the Format Data Series dialog.

See Formatting data series.

You can accept the default line style or specify a user-defined style.

  • To accept the default format, select Automatic in the Line section of the tab.
  • To specify a format, select User-defined.

You can specify the style, color and width of a line. Line styles include solid, dotted and dashed lines. Some solid line styles have a predefined width. You can override this by specifying a different width.

  • Select a line style from the Style list.
  • Select a color from the color picker.
  • In the Width field, specify the width of the line.

For both default and user-defined line styles you can select the Smooth option. The Smooth option smooths the profile of a line. That is, where the direction of a line changes, the acuteness of the angle is reduced. In Radar charts, all the lines are straight and so the Smooth option is not available.

You can choose whether to display a marker at each data point on a line. If you do so, you can accept the default marker style or specify a user-defined style.

  • To accept the default style, select Automatic in the Marker section of the tab.
  • To specify a format, select User-defined.

You can specify the type, and foreground and background colors of markers. You can also specify their size.

  • Select a type from the Type list.
  • Specify the foreground color. The selected color is displayed as a border around the marker.
  • Specify the background color.
  • Specify the size of the marker, from 1 millimeter to 20 millimeters.
