Adding a new equipment type at the enterprise level

  1. Select Facility > Enterprise.
  2. Select Configuration > Equipment Type to open the YMS Equipment Type page.
  3. Click New to access the Equipment Type detail view.
  4. Specify this information on the Equipment Type tab:
    Equipment Type
    Specify the short description of the equipment type.
    Owned
    Select Yes if the equipment type is owned. Otherwise, select No to specify that the equipment type is not owned.
    Vehicle Type
    Optionally, specify the type of vehicle.
    Transportation mode
    Select the mode of transportation. These values are valid:
    • Rail
    • Air
    • Land
    • Water
    Description
    Specify a description for the equipment type. For example, REG 20’ Container or REG 40’ Container.
  5. Specify this information on the Default Settings tab:
    Default dimensions
    These dimensions are used to provide defaults during the equipment check in process.
    Default length
    Specify the length of the equipment type.
    Default width
    Specify the width of the equipment type.
    Default height
    Specify the height of the equipment type.
  6. Specify this information on the Charge Settings tab:
    Demurrage Alert Days
    Specify the number of days a loaded container can be in the yard before the carrier starts to bill an additional cost to the company. For example, specify 30 to indicate that a piece of equipment can be on site for 30 days before charges for additional time begin. If no corresponding values are not indicated for the carrier associated with the equipment inventory, then the equipment type values are used.
    Demurrage Alert Formula
    Select the event that starts the demurrage clock. Values are based on the times in the equipment inventory table. These values are valid:
    • Expected Arrival Time
    • Want Time
    • Ordered Time
    • Checkin Time
    • Checkout Time
    • Last Move Time
    • Last Inspection Time
    • Open Time
    • Close Time
    Detention Alert Days
    Specify the number of days a loaded container can be in the yard before the carrier starts to bill an additional cost to the company. If no corresponding values are not indicated for the carrier associated with the equipment inventory, then the equipment type values are used.
    Detention Alert Formula
    Select the event that starts the detention clock. Values are based on the times in the equipment inventory table. These values are valid:
    • Expected Arrival Time
    • Want Time
    • Ordered Time
    • Checkin Time
    • Checkout Time
    • Last Move Time
    • Last Inspection Time
    • Open Time
    • Close Time
    Storage Alert Days
    Specify the number of days a loaded container can be stored in the yard before the carrier starts to bill an additional cost to the company. If no corresponding values are not indicated for the carrier associated with the equipment inventory, then the equipment type values are used.
    Storage Alert Formula
    Select the event that starts the storage clock. Values are based on the times in the equipment inventory table. These values are valid:
    • Expected Arrival Time
    • Want Time
    • Ordered Time
    • Checkin Time
    • Checkout Time
    • Last Move Time
    • Last Inspection Time
    • Open Time
    • Close Time
  7. Specify this information on the Equipment ID Format Settings tab:
    Mask Format
    Specify the equipment ID mask format. Review the list of valid characters and examples. When an Equipment ID mask is configured, the equipment id entered must conform to the configured mask format.
    Note: You can specify the equipment length values only if the equipment ID mask format in this field is not configured.
    Allow Spaces In Equipment ID
    Indicates if spaces are allowed in the equipment ID. The default value is Yes.
    Note: You cannot set this field to Yes if the maximum length of the equipment ID is 1.
    Allow Special Characters In Equipment ID
    Indicates if the special characters are allowed in the equipment ID.
    Note: You cannot set this field to Yes if the maximum length of the equipment ID is 1.
    Minimum Equipment ID Length
    The minimum length of the equipment ID.
    Note: The default value in this field is 1 and this value cannot be zero.
    Maximum Equipment ID Length
    The maximum length of the equipment ID.
    Note: The default value in this field is 30. This value cannot be less than the minimum length of the equipment ID.
  8. Click Save.
