Manual and automated equipment moves
With YMS, you can create manual moves and create system generated moves based on business rules. The guard and yard jockey can create manual equipment moves at any time. When created by the guard using the mobile application or 2D visual yard screen, the move is shown on the Move Task Queue screen and is assigned, based on defined priorities.
Here are examples of business rule:
- Live load trailers: A move is created to an open receiving door for a full trailer or to a shipping door if the trailer is empty. If no doors are available, the trailer is sent to a staging location.
- Drop trailers: Empty locations in storage are evaluated for the equipment flow and equipment type. Then, if possible, a location is assigned with the nearest proximity to a receiving or shipping door.
- Trailers confirmed as unloaded: For trailers
that have been confirmed as unloaded at a receiving door, an event is sent to YMS to
perform one of these tasks:
- Create a move task from receiving door to shipping
- Check-out, depending on whether that
trailer ID has been categorized for reuse.
At the same time, another task is added immediately after in the task queue to pull a new trailer ID into the open door, based on user defined priorities and configurations such as equipment flow and type; carrier; how long the trailer has been in the yard; or any hot item indicators.
- Trailers confirmed as loaded: For trailers
that have been confirmed as loaded at a shipping door, an event is sent to YMS to
perform one of these tasks:
- Create a move task from shipping door to storage
- Check-out depending on whether that
trailer ID is ready to ship
At the same time, another task is added immediately after in the task queue to pull a new trailer ID into the open door, based on user defined priorities and configurations such as equipment flow and type; carrier; how long the trailer has been in the yard; or any hot item indicators.
