Adding a fiscal calendar
You can use the Fiscal Calendar (alco_accounting_period)table to set up a financial reporting calendar with the Set of Books tables. Only one fiscal calendar is assigned to a set of books. Fiscal calendars are assigned to a set of books or are used to generate external reports.
- Select Manage > Corporate Data.
- Select Fiscal Calendar in the Data Type field.

information:
- Name
- The name of the fiscal calendar.
- Description
- The description of the fiscal calendar.
- Status
- The status of the fiscal calendar. The status can be Active or Inactive. A calendar can have more than one accounting period defined. An accounting period can be for a specific period. For example, a day, week, month, or several months, meeting these criteria:
- There are no gaps in the year.
- No dates are excluded in any reporting period in the year.
- No reporting periods overlap dates.
Each accounting period is displayed as a separate row in the table.
- Period Name
- The name of the accounting period. For example, 12W 2012 is the period name for the twelfth week in 2012, for a fiscal calendar is divided into weekly accounting periods.
- Start Date
- The date from which the accounting period starts.
- End Date
- The date on which the accounting period ends.
- Period Type
- The type of the accounting period.
- Period Year
- The year of the accounting period.
- Period Number
- The number of the accounting period. For example, 12 is the period number for an accounting period named 12W 2012.
- Period Quarter
- The quarter with which the accounting period is associated. Several accounting periods belong to the same quarter. For example, 1 is the quarter number for the accounting period 12W 2012 in a fiscal calendar.
- Description
- The description of the accounting period. For example, twelfth week of 2012 is the description of an accounting period named 12W 2012.
- Click the Membership tab, if required, and add the data groups. See, Adding or removing data groups from a corporate date type.
- Specify an external key, if required. See, Creating an external key.
- Click Add to save the data.
