Understanding the application foundation
The Expense Management application has a multi-tier architecture that consists of these components:
- HTML thin clients that connect to the application servers using the corporate LAN, WAN, or using the Internet.
- Application servers that use the corporate LAN or WAN to connect to the standard Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). These databases contain the application and the corporate data.
- All communication takes place on top of the standard Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)l.
The application includes these features:
- A common graphical user interface across all the applications and the deployment options.
- A cross-platform. The browser-based client that runs on the PCs, Macs, and UNIX workstations.
