Defining manual routing

Manual routing enables a user to re-route an expense report, travel plan, timesheet, or purchase requisition to a specified alternate approver instead of having it automatically routed to their assigned approver. You can create a business rule to define manual routing capability for a specified department in your company or for a group. You create groups on the Add Group screen. When creating the new business rule, you also assign a manual routing group from which the user must select an alternate approver.

To create a business rule to define manual routing:

  1. Select Manage > Business Rules > Business Rule.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Specify this information:
    Business Rule Name
Specify a name for the manual routing business rule.
You can create a custom resource key. See the Infor Expense Management System Administration Tool User Guide.
    Template
    Select Manual Routing.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. You can accept the default setting or makes changes. See Editing a business rule.
  6. Select one or more Fire On actions for the new business rule.
    • For manual routing, the Fire On action or actions you select determine when the Manual Routing screen is displayed for the user. For example, if you select the Submit ER action, the Manual Routing screen is displayed when an Expense Reports user submits an expense report.
    • Click the Parameters tab and select a manual routing group. The manual routing group determines who the alternate approvers can be. You define alternate approvers with the Groups screen. See Applying a business rule to a group or organization.

Using the above example, when an expense report user in the Commercial Sales department clicks Submit and returns the Manual Routing screen, the user must specify or select a user ID that is a member of the manual routing group that you specify in this process.

  7. Click the Strings tab and specify the appropriate information.
  8. Click the Apply To tab and select an organization or group to which you want to have manual routing applied. Click Organization or Groups to populate the Apply To field.
For example, if you select International Motors, then the Manual Routing screen is displayed only to users of that company. The Manual Routing screen is displayed to Expense Reports users at the International Motors Company, when they submit expense reports.
  9. To save your changes, click OK.
