Cancelling a shipment order line

Infor WMS supports the cancellation of individual lines on shipment orders. This function enables you to cancel specific order lines while the remaining lines continue through the standard warehouse processes. This capability is intended for situations such as inventory shortages or lost sales when only part of an order cannot be fulfilled.

Cancelled lines are displayed on the shipment order for auditing and reference purpose. However, these lines are excluded from all subsequent processing.

To cancel a shipment order line on the Shipment Order screen:

  1. Select Facility > Warehouse > WMS > Outbound > Shipment Order. The Shipment Order screen is displayed.
  2. Open a shipment order and select the required order line.
  3. Verify the line is in an open status eligible for cancellation. Example statuses:
    • Created Externally
    • Created Internally
    • Did Not Allocate
    • Not Started
  4. Select Actions and click Cancel Line. A confirmation message is displayed.
  5. Click OK to confirm. The status of the selected order line is set to Cancelled Internally.
    Note:
    • An error message is displayed, and the action cannot be performed if the status of the selected order line already being processed.
    • Lines must be returned to an open status before cancellation can occur.

You cannot perform these actions after a line is cancelled:

  • Modify quantities or attributes
  • Allocate, pick, pack, or ship
  • Cancel the line again
  • Delete the line
  • Reactivate the line

You can cancel shipment order lines through inbound integration, using the ProcessShipment BOD. This allows an external system, such as an ERP, can request the cancellation of specific shipment order lines when inventory is unavailable or when demand is withdrawn.

The external system sends a ProcessShipment (Change) BOD that includes a line‑level override indicating the line must be cancelled.

When the application receives this update, the specified line is set to Canceled Externally.

  • The canceled line remains on the shipment order for reference; however, the line is excluded from all further processing.
  • Shipment order lines that remain open continue through allocation, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • When later BOD updates include a cancelled line, the application ignores that line and processes the active lines.
  • When all lines on a shipment order are cancelled, the application cancels the shipment order and prevents from further updates.
