Processing counter sales from warehouse

The Counter Sales functionality also supports facilities where items are picked from the warehouse zone instead of the customer‑accessible display area. In these cases, warehouse personnel perform standard RF‑based picking to fulfil Counter Sale orders. When an associate specifies the customer order in ERP, the application releases the order to WMS, allocates the required items and generates RF pick tasks for warehouse operators. This ensures accurate inventory tracking, proper lottable or lot number capture, and compliance with serial or lot‑controlled product requirements.

Items are not auto‑picked as picking is performed by the warehouse staff. Instead, RF devices guide the picker through standard Warehouse picking workflows. After the items are picked, items are moved to the designated Pick‑To location, where the application can automatically ship the order if the location is configured to allow auto‑shipping.

Shipment Orders are sent to WMS through a BOD. To ensure correct processing of Warehouse‑picked Counter Sale orders, these configuration rules must be met:

  • The value in the Order Type field must be set to CounterSale on the Shipment Order screen. Additionally, the value in the Allocation Strategy field must be set to Warehouse pick only on the SO Detail 2 tab.
  • The value in the Allocation Strategy field must be set to Counter on the Items screen.
  • The following fields must be configured on the Locations screen for Warehouse pick locations:
    • Location Category: Warehouse
    • Location Type: Pick – Piece
    • Zone: Warehouse zone
    • Automatically Ship Picked Product: Enabled
  • The value in the Order Type field must be set to CounterSale and the value in the Priority field must be set to 1-Highest Priority on the Outbound Activity screen.
  • For lot‑controlled items, RF application captures the appropriate WMS lot number as items are scanned during the picking process.
Note: You can enable the DONOTAUTOSHPSHRTPK parameter on the System Settings screen to prevent auto‑shipping in case of short picks.
