Creating a new BOM

  1. Select Facility > ENTERPRISE > Enterprise > Configuration > Bill of Material. The Bill of Material list view is displayed.
    Note: You can also create BOM at the warehouse level, which can be accessed from Facility > Warehouse > WMS > Configuration > Bill of Material.
    • The Import and Export selections are available in the Bill of Material list view. In addition to the functionality defined in the Infor WMS Introduction and Navigation User Guide, the import and export features within the Bill of Material list view have been expanded.
    • You can click Import to import Microsoft Excel data to either create new records or update existing records. Infor WMS validates the field values before either new records are inserted or existing records are updated. If a validation fails, the import log record indicates the error file.
    • When you click Export, both header and detail data are exported to a Microsoft Excel file. As in other existing areas within Infor WMS, the header and detail values are exported to separate tabs in the Excel file.
  2. Click New. The Bill of Material detail view is displayed.
  3. Specify this information:
    Owner
    The owner of the Bill of Material. Required.
    Note: The owner must be configured in the application.
    Component Item
    The item code of the component used in Bill of Material.
    Note: The component item must exist in the application, and it must be created on the Item screen.
    Item
    The master item code of the components used in Bill of Material.
    Note: The item must exist in the application.
    Sequence
    The order in which the component should be assembled. You can type 3, to add the item in the third package.
    Quantity
    The number of components required in each kit.
    BOM Only
    The indicator that determines if the component reduces inventory during processing. Possible values:
    • Yes: The component does not reduce the on-hand inventory balance. The component is used for kitting only and is not considered as an mainstream inventory item.
    • No: The component reduces the on-hand inventory. The component is considered as the standard inventory item and inventory transactions are recorded.
    Note: If you select Yes, the application treats the item as a kitting-only item. It is not considered as an inventory item.
    Notes
    Additional information about the item.
    Bill of Material Text UDF 1 - 5
    The user defined text fields used to store additional information related to BOM.
    Bill of Material Numeric UDF 1 – 5
    The user defined numeric fields used to capture quantities, measurements, or calculated values associated with a BOM.
    Bill of Material Code List UDF 1 – 5
    The user defined code list fields used to select predefined values relevant to a BOM.
    Bill of Material Search UDF 1 – 5
    The user defined fields used for reference and select related records linked to a BOM.
    Note: 
    • The user defined fields are displayed only if you enable the BOMUDFS parameter on the Feature Control screen.
    • The user defined fields are populated automatically during BOM import, based on rules defined on the Rule Maintenance screen.
  4. Click Save.
