Understanding equipment validation checks on an RF device
When you log on to equipment or change from one equipment item to another piece of equipment, the system performs a series of validation checks. As the system performs validation checks, applicable messages or equipment checks questions display on an RF device. The validation checks include:
- Verify if the equipment check selection within the system settings is turned on
- Verify if the specified equipment ID value is valid
- Verify if the equipment ID is disabled
- Verify if the equipment ID is already in use by another user, and if multiple (concurrent) users can use the same equipment ID
- Verify if the equipment profile has an equipment checks strategy associated with it
Equipment Check System Setting On
- Scenario 1: If the equipment check setting is turned on and you specify an invalid equipment ID value on the RF device, a message indicating the ID is invalid displays.
- Scenario 2: If the equipment
check setting is turned on and you specify a valid Equipment ID value on the RF
device, the system checks if the equipment ID is disabled.
- If the equipment ID is disabled, a message displays indicating the equipment ID is disabled.
- If the equipment ID is
not disabled, the system verifies if the ID is already in use.
- If the equipment profile allows concurrent logins of the equipment ID, you can press to navigate to the next menu.
- If the equipment profile is not set up to allow concurrent logins of an equipment ID, the system checks if the equipment ID is in use by another user. If the ID is in use, a message displays indicating the name of the person using the ID. If the ID is not in use, the system checks if the equipment profile has an equipment checks strategy. See Answering equipment checks strategy questions on an RF device for information on responding to equipment checks strategy questions.
Equipment Check System Setting Off
- Scenario 1: If the equipment check setting is turned off and you do not specify an equipment ID, you can simply press to navigate to the next menu. You are not required to specify an ID.
- Scenario 2: If the equipment check setting is turned off and you do specify an equipment ID, the system checks if the ID is valid. If the equipment ID is not valid, a message displays indicating that the ID is invalid. You can either specify a valid ID and press , or you can clear the invalid ID and press to navigate to the next menu.
