Sort and Merge Outbound Case IDs for Pack

The secondary cartonization process enables you to merge items that have been cartonized into case IDs from separate zone assignments, and different case IDs for the same Ship To. This functionality minimizes outbound shipment boxes, reduces costs, and facilitates the packing process. By incorporating order pooling by Ship To (same Route/Stop), multiple orders with the same Ship To can now be cartonized and combined after picking. You can use this functionality by enabling the SHIPTOPICKTOSORT, and MERGEZONESONSHIPTOPICKTOSORT parameters from the System Settings screen. See the System Settings topic for more details.

If you select the Perform Secondary Merge Sort check box for the items in the Zone screen, an additional secondary cartonization takes place and calculates cartonization. This functionality also works with Pooled orders. After wave release, the secondary cartonization values update these columns in the Pick Details screen:

  • Merge Sort
  • Merge Counter
  • Final Merge Carton Type
  • Merge Number

You can combine the IDs to pack using the RF application. See, the Using the Combine to Pack screen topic for more details.
