Hold allocation rules
You must use certain rules for processing orders using hold allocation functionality. You use these rules for allocation and picking.
- If an Order Type does not have any records defined in the Hold Allocation Configuration, the system allocate and allow picking of only ‘OK’ inventory (records without any hold codes defined)
- If the system is attempting
to allocate product based on the order type in the hold allocation
configuration, it does not use standard allocation rules. The system tries to
allocate from the first available location based on lot rotation. It does not
try to force a pick from a defined forward pick location since this product may
not exist in that location.
Use these inventory rules during the pick:
- If the product is on location hold, the portion being picked is not on hold after it is picked.
- If the product is on Lot hold, the product picked is on hold after the pick is complete because it is part of that lot number.
- If the product is a license plate hold, and a full pallet is picked, the license plate is on a hold status following the pick.
- If the product is a license plate hold, and a partial quantity is picked from the pallet, the license plate is not on a hold status following the pick.
- After the partial quantity
is picked, the system creates a new license plate (LPN) during the pick. This
new License plate has a prefix in front of the existing license plate for ease
of identification of the held product.
- After the partial quantity is picked, the system creates a new license plate (LPN) during the pick. This new License plate has a prefix in front of the existing license plate for ease of identification of the held product.
- To define this prefix,
select
For example, when you allocate and pick license plate 0980312563 due to a hold condition, the system assigns HOLD0980312563 to the license plate during the pick process.
If you perform unallocation after picking against inventory from a license plate hold, identification is easy because the prefix is tagged as part of the license plate.
. Search for the PREFIXHOLD code. The default
value for this code is "HOLD".
- Dynamic picking is also supported through this functionality. Because dynamic allocation does not reserve product in a specific location and because inventory status codes can change between the time the order was allocated and later picked, it is possible that product was allocated but is not longer eligible to pick.
