Allocation overview

The topics in this section describe the allocation process for shipment orders, as well as the steps to allocate and unallocate inventory for orders.

After orders are created, the warehouse must be searched for available items. When found, the items are reserved for that order. This reservation process is known as allocation.

There are two variations of allocation solutions included within the SCE application:

• New Allocation consists of a strategy configuration that performs inventory allocation in one step.
• Classic Allocation consists of two components and separate strategy configurations - pre-allocation (soft) and allocation (hard).
