Multi-facility overview
Use multi-facility configuration options to define a nested, operational structure for a company, where the definition of multiple divisions, distribution centers, and warehouse facilities can be made.
Transactions for each warehouse are held in individual schema. Company-wide data are held in enterprise schema. The application automatically filters enterprise data into warehouse databases. This process eliminates the need to configure duplicate data for multiple facilities. After you establish company information for the enterprise, you can define warehouse information for warehouses.
Multi-facility processing provides the following benefits:
- It allows a four-level structure for an organization that includes company, division, distribution center, and warehouse.
- It eliminates the need to manually enter duplicate data because each warehouse is an individual schema within the application. The enterprise is the top level, and the application filters Information to the lower levels.
- It lets you view all inventory across multiple sites.
- It allows warehouse transfers in which associates can transfer items from one warehouse to another.
