Using inventory holds
Inventory holds are used in a warehouse in a number of situations, including:
- Damaged items awaiting disposition instructions
- Recalled items awaiting disposition instructions
- Items requiring federal inspection to determine acceptability
- Imported merchandise requiring a bond release before shipment
- Manufactured items on incubation hold.
Hold restrictions
You cannot place inventory on hold if it is picked or allocated.
When a location is designated as on hold, the inventory at the location cannot be allocated for orders. When items are moved into a hold location, it is considered on hold. When items are moved out of a hold location, the items are taken off hold status, unless the items are moved into another hold location.
