Creating a task dispatch strategy

Select Configuration > Strategies > Task Dispatch. The Task Dispatch list view is displayed.

Note: The Import and Export selections are available in the Task Dispatch list view. In addition to the functionality defined in the Infor WMS Introduction and Navigation User Guide, the import and export features within the Task Dispatch list view have been expanded.

You can click Import to import Microsoft Excel data to either create new records or update existing records. Infor WMS validates the field values before either new records are inserted or existing records are updated. If a validation fails, the import log record indicates the error file.
When you click Export, both header and detail data are exported to a Microsoft Excel file. As in other existing areas within Infor WMS, the header and detail values are exported to separate tabs in the Excel file.

Click New.

Round Robin Task Interleaving

To use interleaving, indicate the process method:

Yes (round robin) – user will be given each of the task type they have permission for without considering the proximity to the next task. If the user can do both putaway and picking, they will keep getting each of these in sequence.
No – if interleaving is used it will be based on getting the next task based on proximity. If the user can do both putaway and picking, they could get either task next based on proximity rules being applied. Proximity based task interleaving is applicable to following Full LPN/Pallet tasks:
- Picks
- Dynamic Picks (DP): Dynamic Pick task creation must be enabled
- Putaway
- Cycle count
- Move

Specify this information in the detail portion of the Task Dispatch screen:

Step Number: The priority or sequence of this task type. This is a numeric value used to sort the tasks. Specific numbers do not need to be used but the sequence does matter. Tasks with the same step number are candidates for proximity based task interleaving.
Task Type Description: Drop-down menu to select the type of task. When selected, this will automatically populate fields for Task Type and Short Code .
Proximity Interleaving: Check if proximity based interleaving is to be used. This means the next task distributed to the user will be based on where the previous task was completed.
Task Type: Type of task to dispatch. This is automatically populated based on the Task Type Description selected and are pre-defined for use in the application.
Operator: Operator is used in combination with the Priority selection to determine the sorting of the tasks for RF-directed tasks.
Priority: Priority is used to sort the RF-directed tasks given to the user. For example, if a step has the Putaway < 5 defined, the user only receives Putaway tasks with a task detail priority that is less than 5.
Pick Code: Name of the system procedure used to create a set of candidate tasks for the task type. This is automatically populated based on the Task Type Description selected and are pre-defined for use in the application.

Click Save.

You can make a duplicate of a strategy to create a new record. When you click Duplicate, you are prompted to specify a unique code key and description for the new record. Click Save to create the new record. All detail rows in the existing record are copied and saved to the detail table.
