Creating a classic allocation strategy
To create a classic allocation sub-strategy:
- Select Configuration > Strategies > Classic Allocation. The Classic Allocation strategy screen is displayed.
- Click New. The Allocation Strategy: (New) screen is displayed.

Specify this
information:
- Allocation Strategy
- Specify a unique code identifying the allocation sub-strategy.
- Description
- Specify a description of the allocation sub-strategy.
- Retry If Quantity Remains
- Specify whether the system should break up larger units that have not been filled and then try again using smaller units. (0=No; 1=Yes.)
- Allocation Strategy Type
- Select Firm = Traditional allocation or Soft = dynamic allocation & picking.

In the
Detail List section at the
bottom of the screen, specify this information:
- Step Number
- Specify the numeric step that determines the sequence of how the system will evaluate inventory for allocation.
- UOM
- Select the unit of measure to be considered for this process step from the drop-down menu. Examples include: Piece/Each, Full Case, or Full Pallet.
- Description
- Use the lookup
feature to display a list of pick codes and descriptions that can be used with
the unit of measure (UOM) previously selected. This selection populates both
the Description and Pick Code fields on the strategy line.
Complete the remaining fields on this screen as needed to configure the rules required for this step of the allocation strategy. See the explanation provided above for additional information on the function of each field.
- After you create the new allocation strategy, click Save.
