Modifying serial numbers associated with a license plate in inventory

Another variation of the adjustment for serial numbers is to modify the serial numbers that are associated to a license plate in inventory. This feature can be used to correct a problem when the system has an inventory value that does not match the serial inventory for the license plate. Another reason to perform this type of adjustment is to correct a problem where the serials associated with a license plate in inventory do not match the physical product.

To modify the serial numbers associated to a license plate in inventory:

  1. Follow the instructions described in the Inventory Management User Guide for additional information on performing inventory adjustments on regular inventory. TheAdjustment (AJ02) screen displays when the steps required to specify the inventory record to adjust are completed.
  2. Specify the Target Qty which is the same as the Current Qty in inventory since the overall license plate quantity is not getting adjusted in this scenario.
  3. Since the Current and Target quantities match, you are prompted with a message to verify the serial number update.
  4. Press Y (for Yes) to continue with the serial only adjustment. The Serial Capture screen displays.
  5. Enter the serials associated with the inventory record.
  6. Scan the serial numbers in the location.
    • All serials that are not scanned are removed from inventory and are noted with a negative quantity adjusted out on the serial number transaction.
    • All serials that are scanned but did not previously exist on the current license plate are be included in the serial inventory transaction with a positive quantity.
