Query Builder – Wave Limits

Wave Limits can be used to manage the size of the wave to be created using the graphical filter, as well as eliminate orders based on certain criteria.

You can create waves for single item line orders where the total number of orders for a single item is higher than the defined percentage of the total orders. If the Order Lines - Minimum and Order Lines - Maximum fields are set to 1, then you can specify a percentage for a single item in the Minimum percent for single item (1 line order only) field.

If Wave Limits or Order Limits information is not provided, all shipment orders that meet the conditions specified in the query portion of the screen are included in the wave.

The wave limits criteria include:

Wave Limits
Restrictions used to apply maximum limits on the size of the wave being created.
Orders Maximum
Maximum number of shipment orders that can be included in the wave. These orders conform to the search criteria you set.
Order Lines Maximum
Maximum number of total order lines that can be included on the wave.
Cube Maximum
Maximum cumulative cubic volume that can be included on the wave. This is calculated using the Order Quantity multiplied by the cube for each item on an order.
Weight Maximum
Maximum cumulative weight that can be included on the wave. This is calculated using the Order Quantity multiplied by the weight for each item on an order.
Include Orders from existing Wave
Flag indicating whether you should include orders from an existing wave in this wave.
  • Select this check box if the new wave should include orders that are already on a different wave, as long as they meet the other selection criteria. For example, process orders from a previous day that could not be completely filled, such as back orders.
  • Clear this check box if only orders that are not associated with an existing wave should be considered.
Exclude Orders with End to End Serial Items
Flag indicating whether you want to include or exclude orders with end-to-end serial items on the wave.
  • Select this check box if the new wave should exclude orders with end-to-end serial items.
  • Clear this check box if the new wave should include orders with end-to-end serial items.
Exclude Orders with Outbound Catch Data Items
Flag indicating whether you want to include or exclude orders with outbound catch data items on the wave.
  • Select this check box if the new wave should exclude orders with outbound catch data items.
  • Clear this check box if the new wave should include orders with outbound catch data items.
Exclude Orders with Outbound Catch Weight Items
Flag indicating whether you want to include or exclude orders with outbound catch weight items on the wave.
  • Select this check box if the new wave should exclude orders with outbound catch weight items.
  • Clear this check box if the new wave should include orders with outbound catch weight items.
Include RFID Orders
Type of shipment orders that can be included in the search. The RFID flag is contained on the shipment order header. The following options are available:
  • RFID
  • Standard
  • Both
Note: By default, Both is selected.
Routes Maximum
Maximum number of distinct routes that can be included on the wave.
Order Limits
Restrictions used to set minimum and maximum levels on orders that are under consideration for inclusion on the wave.
Order Quantity
Select potential orders for inclusion on the wave based on the total quantity requested on the orders.
Order Lines
Select potential orders to be included on the wave based on the number of lines being ordered. For example, create a wave all single line orders by using ‘1’ as the Order Lines – Minimum criteria.
Order Cube
Select potential orders based on the total cube ordered.
Order Weight
Select potential orders based on the total weight ordered.
Minimum percent for single item (1 line orders only)
This field is only available if the Order Lines Minimum and Maximum = 1. Specify the minimum percent of the orders with single order line and the same item is put on this wave.
Pull To Wall
Indicates if the wave is set to the Put To Wall location (sortation station).
Note: The Sortation Station and the Percentage Open Sort Locations fields are enabled if the Pull To Wall check box is selected.
Sortation Station
The sort station that is used for automatic batching process.
Percentage Open Sort Locations
The number of open locations required for the sort station to perform the automatic batching process.
Note:
  • The selected wave is cancelled, and the automatic batch process is not executed if the empty locations is lower than the specified number.
  • If there are multiple sort stations, the system selects the sort station that matches or the sort station with several open locations than the number of orders on the wave to be included.
  • The Query Builder option is the only wave building logic that supports the auto batching process and sort station logics.
