Rainbow pallet putaway

In the course of day-to-day warehouse operations, less-than-full pallets can be received. As a result, multiple products are sometimes received onto a single pallet. For example, a half pallet of grapes (pallet 001) and a half pallet of berries (pallet 002) are received into the warehouse. The products are then combined onto a single inbound drop ID (pallet 003). The resulting pallet in this scenario is referred to as a rainbow pallet.

Infor WMS Warehouse Management allows multiple products to be received on a single pallet to be put away into multiple locations instead of a single location. Each product on a rainbow pallet has its own license plate number (LPN) and is considered a separate entity with separate putaway rules. For example, the drop ID is considered the parent pallet ID, and the cases on the parent are considered child IDs.

The rainbow pallet feature allows you to specify the order in which products are put away by pressing 4 (back) or 6 (forward). If you press 6, the tasks are completed in sequential order by logical location. If you press 4, the tasks are completed in reverse order (last task first) by logical location. The number of child IDs to be put away for each drop ID displays based on your selection. For example, if there are six pallet IDs on a rainbow pallet, when you select 6, record 1 of 6 displays. You can change from forward to back after the first record is processed.

If a case or pallet ID on a rainbow pallet has no task associated with it, the ID does not display during the putaway process. The application only recognizes pallets with tasks associated with them. For example, if someone randomly places a partial pallet onto a rainbow pallet (drop ID) and it is not built into the drop ID during the receiving process, the application does not recognize it. You would have to perform RF-assisted putaway using the LPN instead of the drop ID.
