Creating a new label

To create a new label:

  1. Select Administration > Print Management > Labels to open the Label Configuration screen.
  2. Click New to open the Label Configuration detail view.
  3. Specify this information:
    Label Type

    Type of label to be used. The Label Name and Label Type combination must be unique within the application. The label type can be picked from the drop-down list, which is a list of the label types listed above. For example:

    • CASE label can be used to print Case labels for Picking.
    • PALLET labels can be used to print Pallet labels for Receiving.
    Header Value
    Embedded on the RF ID chip to indicate the label type. Header values include:
    • SGTIN Case Labels
    • SSCC Case Labels
    Label Name
    Name defined using LLM. The label names defined on this screen should be configured and saved as lwl files in the folder where the Loftware Label Printer is configured. The Label Name and Label Type combination must be unique within the application.
    Label Description
    Short description for the Label Configuration. For information only.
    Label Size

    Size of the label to be printed.

    • 1: 4x2.5 Stock Size
    • 2: 4x3 Stock Size
    • 3: 4x4 Stock Size
    • 4: 4x6 Stock Size
    Data Source
    Query select statement that provides the data to be sent to Loftware for printing the database contents for the label.
    Printer Type
    Labels are usually developed for a designated printer type or a stock size. If a label name (label file) is used for multiple printer types loaded with the same size stock, the administrator must create multiple Label Configuration entries.
    Default for Label Type
    Indicator that sets the current label name as the default for the selected label type.
    Default Printer
    Default printer to be used for this label.
    Label Category
    The general category of the defined label. The Category is used to separate the label definitions into groups such as Inbound Labels, Outbound Labels, Crossdock Labels, etc.
  4. Click Save.
