Installing the FTP service

You can use the steps below to install the FTP service on the computer and create a default FTP directory under C:\Inetpub\ftproot.

To install the FTP service:

  1. From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double click Add or Remove Programs and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. From the Windows components list, click Internet Information Services (IIS) and then click Details.
  4. From the subcomponents of the IIS list, select File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Service and click OK.
  5. Click Next.
  6. If prompted for the Windows XP product CD, insert the CD or provide the network path to the CD image.
